Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 to 5 pieces ripe bananas, sliced Look for bananas with lots of brown spots.
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar Reduce slightly if bananas are very sweet.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup milk Any type of milk works, including almond or oat milk.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional, but adds flavor.
  • 1 stick butter, melted Real butter is preferred for flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour the melted butter into a 9x13 baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Stir in the milk and vanilla until smooth, leaving a few tiny lumps.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  5. Scatter the sliced bananas evenly over the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 40 to 50 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is still slightly soft.
  2. Let it sit for 10 minutes before scooping to allow it to thicken.

Notes

Best served warm, often enjoyed with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For variations, try adding chocolate chips, berries, or nuts.
