  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Main salty base for the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey Adds sweetness to the bulgogi flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic Use more or less depending on preference.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Add at the end for fragrance.
  • 4 cups cooked rice Use any type (jasmine, white, brown).
Toppings
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber For a fresh crunch.
  • 1 cup shredded carrots Adds color and texture.
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions For garnish.
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds Optional garnish.
  • 1/2 cup kimchi Optional, for those who enjoy a tangy kick.
Optional Spicy Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang For spice in the sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha Add to taste for heat.
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional spice.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the rice first, according to package instructions.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar (or honey), garlic, and a splash of water.
  3. Heat a skillet over high heat.
Cooking
  1. Add the thinly sliced beef to the hot skillet and cook quickly, browning on all sides.
  2. Pour the sauce over the cooked beef, allowing it to bubble for about 1 minute.
  3. Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil just before serving.
Assembly
  1. Serve the beef over the cooked rice.
  2. Top with sliced cucumber, shredded carrots, green onions, and any additional toppings.
