  • 3 tablespoons olive oil Helps coat the chicken.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Brightens flavor and helps tenderize.
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar Adds sweetness and aids in browning.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh is best; garlic powder is an alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Classic seasoning for grilling.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adds herbaceous flavor.
  • optional pinch chili flakes For a little kick.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If using chicken breasts, pound them to an even thickness for even cooking.
  2. In a bowl or bag, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, honey, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Add chicken and coat well.
  3. Let the chicken marinate for 30 minutes to 2-6 hours based on your schedule.
Grilling
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the chicken on the grill and cook without flipping for 5-7 minutes for breasts and longer for thighs.
  3. Check the internal temperature of the chicken; it should reach 165°F in the thickest part.
  4. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored for 3-4 days in a sealed container and sliced for easy access. Pair with fresh salads, rice, or pasta for a complete meal.
