Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 lb kielbasa adds a smoky flavor that complements the pierogi
  • 2 lbs frozen pierogi choose your favorite type, such as cheese or potato
  • 1 cup shredded cheese for a gooey topping; mozzarella or cheddar works great
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup adds creaminess and depth of flavor
  • 1 medium onion, diced for a sweet and savory base
  • 1 cup sour cream optional, for serving
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by spraying the inside of your crockpot with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Add half of the frozen pierogi to the bottom of the crockpot, ensuring they are somewhat arranged evenly.
  3. Slice the kielbasa into bite-sized pieces and layer them over the pierogi.
  4. Sprinkle the diced onions over the kielbasa.
  5. Layer the remaining half of the frozen pierogi on top.
  6. Pour the can of cream of mushroom soup evenly over the top.
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Pour in a splash of water or broth if the mixture seems too thick to cook properly.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  2. In the last 30 minutes, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and let it melt before serving.

Notes

Choose quality kielbasa for superior flavor. Layering is key for enhancing overall texture and flavor distribution. Customize cheese for complex flavors.
