Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Can substitute with coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs Can substitute with flax eggs for vegan.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples Choose firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Optional.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm slices with a pat of butter or drizzle of honey. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
