Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup Old fashioned oats Provides structure and a chewy bite.
  • 1 scoop Vanilla protein powder Whey or plant-based; choose one you enjoy.
  • 0.5 cup Nut butter Peanut or almond butter recommended; sunflower seed butter works too.
  • 0.5 cup Freeze dried blueberries Provides strong blueberry flavor without excess moisture.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup To sweeten and help bind the mixture.
  • 2 tablespoons Chia seeds Optional; adds nutrition and helps bind ingredients.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances the blueberry flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Optional; adds aroma.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the dry ingredients: oats, protein powder, freeze dried blueberries, chia seeds, and salt.
  2. Add the nut butter, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract (if using) to the bowl.
  3. Stir the mixture until it starts clumping together. Keep stirring for 20 to 30 seconds.
  4. If the mixture is too dry to hold together, add water or milk, one teaspoon at a time, until it holds.
  5. Scoop out the mixture and roll it into bite-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  6. Place the balls in the refrigerator and chill for at least 20 minutes to firm up.

Notes

Optional mix-ins include lemon zest for a lemon blueberry flavor, nuts for crunch, or chocolate for a treat. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days or freeze for 2-3 months. Adjust sweetness and texture as needed and crush freeze-dried blueberries well for even flavor.
