Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced Firm varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are ideal.
  • 1 cup sugar Can reduce for a lighter version.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Adjust based on preference.
For the Strudel
  • 1 package phyllo dough Can use gluten-free version if necessary.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Can substitute with plant-based margarine.
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs Panko can be used for a crunchier texture.
  • 1 cup vanilla sauce For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough and brush it with melted butter. Repeat with 5-6 layers, brushing each layer.
  4. Spread the bread crumbs over the dough, then add the apple mixture on top.
  5. Roll the phyllo dough tightly and place it seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Brush the top with more melted butter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Serve warm with vanilla sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze tightly wrapped for up to a month. Thaw in refrigerator before reheating.
